Helpful Information

How can I find you?
Hebron United Methodist Church is located in Hebron at the corner of Church and Washington Streets. We’re located a block south and a block west of the traffic light at Rts. 231 and 8, or just a block south of the Post Office and Library.

Ok, now that I’ve found you, where do I park?
Parking is available around all the church, both in front and to the east of the church building, and along the streets here at our corner. You can also use the parking at Alyea Park next door. We park in the grass in the empty lot across from the church, and you can too.

What times are your services?
We have 2 services on Sunday, a traditional one at 8:30 am and a contemporary praise service at 10:40 am.

What’s the difference between these 2 services?
The traditional one, as it says, is traditional. We begin with announcements; there are hymns, a responsive reading, scriptures, prayers, an offering, a children’s minute, a message based on scripture given by our pastor, then closing music. Also, one of our choirs will provide the special music, either the adult Chancel Choir, the grade school Wesley Singers, or our Handbell Choir.
The contemporary service incorporates some of the traditional worship; scripture and a scripture-based message given by the pastor and an offering are included in this service. The music, provided by our Praise Team, plays acoustic guitars and also uses the overhead screen and videos. It’s a more relaxed service.

Is there Sunday School?
Yes, we have 6 different classes depending on your age / grade in school or if you're an adult.  Sunday School is at 9:40 am between the 2 services and is for everyone from pre-school to adult.

Then what about babysitting?
We have a nursery staffed with either 2 adults or an adult and a high school youth during both services.

How long does each service last?
Services and Sunday School each last about an hour.

Do I have to dress up?
Wear what’s comfortable.  In both services, some people dress up, and others are more casual in jeans.  We just want you to come and worship and feel at home.

How often is Communion and do I have to be a member of your church?
Communion is usually the first Sunday of the month at both services and also on Christmas Eve. Our Communion is open to everyone, both adults and children who wish to respond to the invitation to come to the Lord’s Table, who truly and earnestly repent of their sin, and who seek to live in peace with one another.

What else do you offer?
We have choirs for all ages, a handbell choir, a weekly women’s group, a weekly Bible Study during the day, and a men’s breakfast once a month. The local food pantry is also here the first and third Mondays of each month from 9 – 10 am.

Quiet activity bags are available for any child attending our worship services. The bags are hanging on the coat rack outside the nursery. Your child can color his name on the bag, but please leave the bag here after worship.

Is there anything else I might need to know?
If you have more questions, the church office is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. Our secretary will be more than happy to answer questions. We have an answering machine too if you call outside those hours.
